The department’s activities are primarily related to mechatronics, a complex and dynamically evolving engineering discipline that combines mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science in a synergistic way. Mechatronics focuses on the design, development, and operation of intelligent machines. Within this field, the department’s expertise is highly diverse and includes several rare research areas that are considered unique at the national level. Building on our previous research and development results, the department is able to participate – even in an integrator role – in both fundamental and applied research projects where success depends on a systems-oriented approach based on mechatronics and its interdisciplinary boundaries, as well as on complex problem-solving methodologies.
