The department’s main task is to develop and support the educational demands that have emerged in Debrecen in connection with the aviation and automotive industries, while also carrying out development and industry-oriented research activities. The Department of Vehicle Engineering is responsible for both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in vehicle engineering. At the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Debrecen, students learn both the theoretical and practical aspects of how vehicles are designed and how they operate. Students acquire fundamental knowledge in vehicle engineering, vehicle dynamics, propulsion technologies, as well as manufacturing and assembly technologies. In addition to conventional internal combustion engines, the curriculum also covers alternative propulsion systems, particularly at the MSc level, where the specialization focuses on the manufacturing of alternatively powered vehicles. At the BSc level, students can choose from several specializations, including automotive engineering, vehicle manufacturing, and aircraft engineering. The goal is to educate engineers who are capable of designing, developing, testing, and manufacturing new, safe, and sustainable vehicles. Graduates in vehicle engineering may pursue careers in the automotive industry, at development companies, vehicle manufacturing firms, or even in service and maintenance sectors.
